Located about 15 miles east of Savannah, Tybee Island offers three miles of wide, sandy beaches that are sure make your vacation everything you need and want it to be.  Before heading out to Tybee it will help to have a plan of what you would like to do. If you’re a beach goer you will need the essential items (chair, cooler, sunscreen, games, etc). You will also want to pick a good spot. The beach on Tybee offers quite a diverse crowd and environment. The pier offers easy access and plenty of parking, which attracts many visitors and locals. If the crowded scene isn’t for you try North Beach, where there is also plenty of parking, but it is far less crowded.

If you do plan a beach trip to Tybee, there are a couple of rules and regulations that you should be aware of. First, parking is strictly enforced seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm. Make sure that you are in a legal spot and that your meter stays full. Second, there are no pets allowed on the beach. Third, there is no glass allowed on the beach. Alcoholic beverages are permitted, but make sure they are in a can or cup. Police do patrol the beach so make sure to abide by rules to avoid a ticket!

You are sure to work up an appetite after an exciting day at the beach. On your way back to Savannah or your place to stay on Tybee stop by one of the many wonderful restaurants the island has to offer. Huc-a-poo's Bites & Booze has great pizza, and Café Loco or A.J.’s offer delicious seafood.

Not everyone is a fan of the beach, but there is plenty to do on Tybee Island other than spending the day in the sand. If shopping is your forte make sure to drop by the stores, galleries and shops in Sundance Square. After your stop at Sundance Square head east on Hwy 80 and enjoy the many shops and restaurants that are located near the beach. A stroll down Tybrisa Avenue will offer many great stores to stop in and pick up souvenirs, clothes and beach goods. Tybrisa leads to the famed Tybee Pier, complete with a pavilion for entertainment. Grab a daiquiri and walk out to the end of the pier to enjoy the ocean breeze and see what the ever-present fishermen are reeling in.

A day of shopping and site-seeing can be pretty tiring. When all of your energy has been consumed plan, a relaxing dinner at one of the great restaurants located on Tybrisa or Strand Avenue. Restaurants offer everything from pizza to seafood to hamburgers, all in a one block area.
