With St. Patrick’s Day just a few days away, why not celebrate like the Irish do (responsibly of course). We’ve put together a small list of some drinks you can make to celebrate, and even some sweet drinks for the kids to help make.
For the Adults:
Irish Coffee (Classic) Recipe
- 6 oz of hot, fresh brewed coffee
- 1 tsp of brown sugar for sweetness
- 1 ½ oz of your favorite Irish whiskey
- heavy cream
Preparation
Whip heavy cream until it becomes whipped cream. Add sugar and confectioners sugar to sweeten. Chill. Brew fresh coffee, combine with the whiskey and sugar. Mix until sugar dissolves. Put chilled whipped cream on top of the Irish coffee mixture.
Irish Martini Drink Recipe
- 2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz dry vermouth
- 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
- lemon twist for garnish
Preparation
Pour the Irish whiskey into a chilled cocktail glass and swirl around the glass in order to coat the inside. Then drain the excess whiskey. Pour the vodka and dry vermouth into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice and shake well, then strain into the cocktail glass. Garnish with the lemon twist and Enjoy!!
Morning with Leprechauns Drink Recipe
- 1 1/2 oz Bailey’s Irish Crème
- 1 oz Irish Whisky
- 1/4 oz Cherry brandy
- 3 oz Cold black coffee (strength to your likeness)
Preparation
Combine all the ingredients into a highball glass filled with crush ice and stir well.
For the Kiddos:
Irish Fairy
- 1 ounce blueberry juice
- 2 ounce pear or apple juice
- 3 ounces soda water
Preparation
Stir the first ingredients together in a tall glass. Add the soda water and serve.
Banana Leprechauns
- 4 ripened bananas
- 1/2 teaspoon mint extract of choice
- 5-8 drops green food dye
- 2 cups cubed ice
Preparation
Peel and slice bananas, put into blender and blend until bananas are a smooth consistency. Add the mint extract, green food dye and ice. Cover blender and mix all ingredients into a fine puree. Pour into glasses and serve. For a “sparkling” touch, fill glasses only 1/2 way and then pour in carbonated water to top.
Chocolate Mint Shake
- 2 scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream
- 1 oz of non-alcoholic Crème De Menthe
- 2 tbspn of chocolate syrup
- 1 quarter cup of whole milk
- 1 tbspn of whipped cream
Preparation
Pour the milk, chocolate syrup and Creme De Menthe into a blender with the ice cream. Blend the drink to your desired consistency. Garnish it with whipped cream.
