Governor Nathan Deal announced on January 26, 2011, that Savannah's very own cooking star would be the celebrity face of Georgia's new travel guide. The full-color guide is distributed and promoted by the Georgia Department of Economic Development to help promote tourism to the state of Georgia. To help lure visitors to the Georgia state, Paula Deen, along with her two sons, Jamie Deen and Bobby Deen, will be photographed for the cover of the newest guide.

With over 750,000 copies of this guide printed each year, surely Paula's sweet, Southern personality and fame can help encourage tourism to Georgia AND Savannah. Moving to Savannah in 1987, Paula is still a resident of Savannah, Georgia. The Food Network show, Paula's Home Cooking, has made her Southern cuisine and charm a foundation to her empire.
