Savannah For 91 Days
Savannah has some unique visitors in town; maybe you've heard of the "for 91 days" blog? Well guess what? THEY ARE HERE! And they have our dream job... probably YOUR dream job too! The For 91 Days phenomenon has created such a stir, that their sponsors pay for them to do extended travel stops, where in each of the chosen hostess cities they spend exactly 91 days. So essentially, these fellas, Juergen Horn and Mike Powell, have set themselves up to move to a new and exciting location once every three months. Along the way, they blog about the sites they see, the people they meet (like us), and the total “local flavor” injected experiences they have.
We started following them on their last adventure to Oviedo, Spain. Wanna read more about the Oviedo journey? Visit http://oviedo.for91days.com.
So, when we heard they were in town, we decided to show them how much Savannah enjoys mixing business (networking) and pleasure (throwing a good party) and we invited them to one of our HELLO Savannah! soirees. And of course they showed up… after all it is the hottest networking event in town every month!! We had the pleasure of chatting up the pair of notably handsome gentlemen and yep, we popped the question, “So guys, why 91 days?” In which we were told, "It's pretty simple actually. A person who stays in one location for 91 days is not technically a tourist, but it’s not quite long enough to become a full fledged local. Hence, it’s just the perfect amount of time to get out, get plugged in, and taste the town!” So there you have it!
Follow the journey of Juergen and Mike as they’ve been exploring Savannah during this 91 day adventure. Their take on the simplicities of Savannah are fascinating and we’ve often found their newcomer’s perspective a little thought provoking for us as locals. Mike serves as their Chief Blogger, and Juergen takes on the Photographer’s role; both are phenomenal. Their stories and images have beautifully captured the picturesque charm for which our Savannah squares and attractions first gained their fame.
Their blogs have covered everything from dining, tours, and parks, to the history of our squares and famous cemeteries, and odd little tid-bits about city wide structures that even some of us Savannahians may not know exist. We read http://savannah.for91days.com/ to find out more about this famous First City that we all love, and because it's great to experience a new perspective on the city we call home. You can also find them on their Facebook fan page, Twitter (@for91days), and Foursquare.
Show them some love y’all!!
