Hi Savannah Joe-

There is something that I’ve always wondered about since moving to Savannah and hopefully you could shed some light on the subject. As you drive east on the Thunderbolt bridge and look to your right, you see a large circle impression in the marshes.

Last week, I was helping a friend study for The City of Savannah’s tour guide test and we read that ancient peoples who settled in this land as early as 10,000 BCE created large circular mounds of oyster shells, known as shell rings. Is this large ring in the marshes the remnants of one of these shell rings, or could it simply be a dried up lake bed or something not so exciting?

I found it on google maps and it’s not perfectly circle. Actually it’s more of a hexagon shape. I can’t say I’ve seen anything like it, and to me it looks man-made.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Hey Savannah Joe D!

I was wondering if you know how much the city charges to rent a square downtown for a wedding? And, is there a way to make sure crashers don’t just slip in?
