Looking for small, inexspensive, clean places to stay near (walking distance) the beach, pubs, restaurants, etc. Also a place to look up small, inexspensive (maybe fixer-upers) real estate (homes)for sale within miles of the beach.

I was wondering if you could tell me when the official beach season is over at Tybee? When will there no longer be lifeguards on duty?

Dear Wanda,

I think the Miley Cyrus movie filming will benefit Tybee in the near and distant future. I realize that whatever happens, some people will benefit and some people will be inconvenienced. I have a couple questions about the planning process for this major event.

When was the community informed that a movie was going to be filmed on Tybee? I know it was announced in the newspapers, but were residents and/or business owners informed of the possibility?

I heard the filming at the carnival set was closed down due to extremely high tides last week. When the city and the film execs were planning the schedule, didn’t anyone look at a tide chart and realize that it was high tide? Even a regular high tide would have been disruptive to filming.
