Hey Savannah Joe D!

I was wondering if you know how much the city charges to rent a square downtown for a wedding? And, is there a way to make sure crashers don’t just slip in?

Thanks for a great question!  Savannah is a wonderful place for an outdoor wedding!

$200 gets you the square you reserve for three hours (one to set up, one for the service, and one to dismantle), according to the city’s Leisure Services Department. If you’re from out of town expect to pay an additional $100.

Applications for park use for public gatherings must be submitted in writing at least five days prior to event date with activities and events outlined in detail and squares are given on a first come, first serve basis.

As far as unwelcome party crashers. . . well, you are in a public place however most Savannahians and tourists will likely just watch your big day without crashing into it.  With that said, Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department security should be provided for all events held in city parks at the expense of the user. Security costs are a minimum of $80/event per officer.

Hope that helps!
