Has anyone ever been to the beach bum parade? do people wear their swimsuits… or just like shirt and shorts?

Beach Bum is whatever you want! As a veteran, I recommend that women consider one piece suits or wear T-shirt and shorts over their bikinis. Things have a way of shifting with all the running around and fun.

Also, remember that water balloons and getting an officer wet are strictly prohibited. Doing so will get you a nice tour of our local jail, at your expense.

If you are adverse to ice cold water, wear a sweatshirt to lessen the blow.

I hear that if you drive on the island with your car doors unlocked, they will open up your door and spray you with water! So lock your car doors if you are going to go to the beach that day!

Also, convertibles with tops down are a primary target. While the parade does not start until 6:30, some locals start their festivities after 3 pm. Beware!

Take a long weekend, and come on down! Round-trip flights from DC area to SAV are $230 right now . It’s stiffer than off-season, but still not terrible. And the lodging’s free.
